We’re off to good ‘ol Flagstaff for a few days of fun. Will post photos, and finally get to updating the site [it’s about darn time!]
In the meantime, enjoy this photo of the San Francisco mountains, as viewed from within Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument taken on January 20, 2002.
And here’s a photo taken in December, 2002, the last time we visited Flagstaff. It was a bit chilly, but walking downtown Flagstaff was still quite nice.

Just a quick note to let y’all know that I’m in the process of upgrading the look/feel of this site, along with redoing the photo gallery. Things aren’t quite finished yet, but I’m hoping that by this weekend, all will be complete.
Looks like the press is getting some ribbing by W.:

We’re just about out of here
Read on for more…Well, the time has sadly come for us to leave. We’re at my folks place night right now, but we are gonna head back to the hotel now and get some sleep. Due to the snow, we are taking a different route out of here - up to Asheville and then on the 40 west.
We plan on getting up around 5am, and heading out around 5:30am to 5:45am. We will head east to Asheville and then hang a left on the I-40 and stay on that until Barstow. We plan on staying in Fort Smith, Arkansas on one night, and the 2nd night, Gallup, New Mexico.
We *might* drive all the way through to New Mexico, simply so that we will have an extra day in California to rest/recover from the trip, since both of us have to be at work at 7am on Tuesday [yuck!!].
If any/all of our hotels have free local calls, I’ll update this from one of our stops, otherwise, don’t expect an update until we’re back [and then I’ll upload a ton of photos onto the gallery].
It is 10:45pm now, and it is still snowing! I wish it would do this at home!

We’ve got snow! Wow! Read on for more…Wow! It is really snowing right now - 9pm EST. It will make leaving tomorrow a challenge to say the least. I am not going to upload any more photos until we get home since they take sooooo long to upload, but I got a ton today, as we went to Highlands and it snowed on us there [and the sun was out for part of it too].
We also went to Cullasaja Falls, Dry Falls, and Bridal Viel Falls. I got soaked big time at Dry Falls, taking photos from behind the falls [that is why it is called dry falls - you used to be able to walk behind the falls and remain dry - but today with the wind and the recent rain on Thanksgiving, it was REALLY flowing!].
Well, right now we are watching old family movies [8mm transfered to VHS tape]. So I gotta go. One more entry before we leave tomorrow morning, I hope…[IF we leave…this snow might keep us here a bit longer].
I’m in North Carolina! Read on for more…Well, we finally made it Sunday night - a big surprise for my parents and grandparents. We left Friday [supposed to be at 2pm, but because of dumb work, I got no sleep the night before and took a nap in the after noon so we left at 3:23pm on Friday, Nov 21st].
We ran into some traffic in SoCal [we drove from SoCal to Franklin, NC nearly non-stop], and ended up arriving at our first stop, the Days Inn at Brinkly, Arkansas at 11:04pm Nov 22nd, Saturday. We got to bed a bit before midnight, and woke up at 5am the next day…
Then it was a mere 12 hour [approx] drive to Franklin, NC. We did make a small wrong turn at Cherokee - the turn off from the I-19 wasn’t labeled very well, and we ended up going 5 miles on the 19, instead of turning onto the 441. When we did get back on, we lost about 10 minutes of time. No biggie. We then found my folks’ place [in the dark; very dark!] and we pulled up to their tempory apartment [they are living there while their house is being built]. Their carport was vacant, so we started to pull out and head to the hotel to check in. As I was backing out, they pulled up behind us! Boy were they supprised!
I have to make this quick…very slow connection here. We are going to Ashville on Wednesday to the Biltmore and other places. I’ll try and update this page with more details tomorrow night. Take a look in the gallery for a small handfull of photos [it took 20+ minutes to upload those 5 images, so I am gonna go through my images and only upload a few of the best ones tomorrow and/or Thursday.
Having tons of fun here…the drive was great, the weather is nice [last night 32 degrees F, 0 degrees celius]. We had some frost on the SUV this morning. Went to Brevard today [Tuesday] and saw the new property…
More details soon…

Well, Halloween is over, so back to the old look and feel. Watch for a newer look and feel soon, though!
Amazing! SoCal got a real storm today. Tons of thunder and lightning, and a fair amount of rain. Perhaps there’s hope yet that SoCal may not have a warm, boring winter after all…
